Transition Program

At St Brendan’s, we value the important role families play as first educators and spend time establishing a strong partnership between home and school. The process begins with our enrolment interviews where we get the opportunity to meet you and your child. During this meeting we are able to begin to form a relationship with your family that will continue to be supported as you move through your years at St Brendan’s.

St Brendan's hosts 4 transition mornings for your child to begin their preparations towards Prep 2024. During these sessions they focus on literacy, numeracy and social activities where your child will become familiar with the school surroundings, educators and some school based routines. It is vital that your child attends all the transition mornings to optimise their experience and begin to build relationships with their peers and educators. During these session we also host parent workshops to support you in the transition of your child into our school and begin to build our partnership with you.

Student Wellbeing / Special Needs / Program Support

We recognise that it may be overwhelming to join a new community for some, therefore we encourage you get to know the parents your child will be attending school with. We hold CaFE (Community and Family Engagement) mornings and afternoons where we welcome you to come and join us for a coffee or tea and become more familiar with our community and school surroundings.

As students transition through their years with us, we continue to provide a safe and supportive environment. In the final years of primary school, through partnerships with our local secondary schools, we help students be prepared and transition smoothly to other settings. Our Year 6 Students work with their teachers through modules in which help them to become more aware of what their high school experience might look like for them.
