Term 1 Week 4

Term 1 Week 4 – 22nd February 2024

Dear Parents,

How is it already Week 4?  It’s wonderful to see that the children have settled into a routine and have been building strong relationships with their teachers and each other.  I have also loved getting to know them all, and my commitment to learning every child’s name has really paid off.  I’m almost there!

I have attended a number of music classes over the past few weeks and I have been blown away by what I have seen.  The Years P-3 children have been incredibly engaged in playing percussion instruments and singing, while the Years 4-6 children are already playing numerous chords and applying them to backing tracks.  Incredible stuff!

Open days and Letter Boxing

Our marketing team has been working with MACS to devise a strong approach to building enrolments for 2025.  A main part of this initial strategy will focus on a series of Open Days. We will be conducting five open days from 9.15-10.30am and the dates are as follows:

Thursday 7th March

Wednesday 13th March

Monday 25th March

Tuesday 23rd April

Thursday 22nd August

As a major part of our Open day campaign, we would like all families to apply this year's mantra of “Growing through Service” by helping to deliver our new flyers into neighbourhood mailboxes.

We are asking ALL students to register their names with Diana or Annalisa (in the office) to ‘Letter Box’ in their street and, if possible, a couple more.

GROWING THROUGH SERVICE

We need a register so that our neighbours do not end up with multiple St Brendan Open Day Flyers.  We will keep a master copy of the streets covered in the office to avoid this from happening

Please talk to our office staff about registering your family.

I would like to extend a massive thank you to Rod and Sylvia Tollit, who have been assisting us in the school with watering and general garden maintenance.  Sylvia has been a wonderful advocate for the school in sourcing donations of gardening items from local businesses which is exceptionally helpful to our school.  We are incredibly grateful to Rod and Sylvia for their ongoing support.

We would also like to say thank you and farewell to Adrienne who has been the coordinator of St Brendan’s OSH club for the past 5 years.  Adrienne has accepted a position at Victoria Police and she will be leaving in two weeks’ time.  We wish her every happiness in her new role and await confirmation of who will replace her as our OSH coordinator.

Have a wonderful fortnight everyone,

Warm regards,

Kellie Noonan

Lego Club commenced last Saturday and the response to it has once again been incredible.

Just a friendly reminder that Lego Club is run by Fleur who volunteers her time to facilitate the club, but that parents are expected to stay and supervise their own children.

Do you know of any families that are seeking a school to enrol their child in now or for the 2025 school year? St Brendan’s offers a uniquely personalised learning environment. It has an extraordinary staff to student ratio that ensures that every child is provided with high levels of attention, care and a learning program tailored to their needs.

For all enquiries, please contact the school office on 9376 0249.  We have include an open day flyer for you to give to anyone you may know who is interested in attending a school tour.

School fees have been sent home. If you are eligible for a concession please fill out the CSEF form attached to your school fees and return to the office with a copy of your relevant card i.e. Health Care Card.

Parent & Friends Committee Expression of Interest

We have some exciting fundraising events planned for our kids for the coming year and we are seeking to form a Parents & Friends Committee to help plan, implement and carry out these for our school.

The Committee would meet monthly (during school hours) and plan and carry out social and fundraising events for the year.

If you would be interested in joining the committee please email admin@sbflemington.catholic.edu.au.

I will be in touch with anyone interested in the near future.

Lynette.
